Eleven Questions

I got tagged by Wilhelmina. It's been a while since I've done one of these survey-type things, but I'll give it a go.

1. What’s the place or country you would want to visit the most if you could just pack your bags and go?
Italy, most definitely. It's one place I've never been to but have always wanted to. And then a detour up to Switzerland, which I have been to before, but it was amazing and I'd love to go back.

2. What do a lot of people assume about you which is not true at all?
I am one of the millions of people who are so shy and socially awkward that people I meet tend to assume I'm just a bitch, because I avoid interacting with others as much as I can, and when I do interact with others I tend to do it badly. There may be other assumptions floating around out there, but this is the one I'm most aware of.

3. What is your favourite number?
This is an odd question. I know some people have favorite or lucky numbers, but I really don't. If pressed I guess I'd have to say 3, but that's an incredibly arbitrary answer, so don't hold me to it.

4. Do you use hand sanitisers when they are provided?
I usually carry my own, actually. Nicer smelling and less harsh than the stuff you typically see in public places. But if I don't have it with me, then yes, I'll use what's provided.

5. What was the first concert you ever went to see?
My first (and I think only?) concert was a show put on by one of the Chicago radio stations, so there was a lineup of different performers. The only one I can think of now is Mya.

6. Calling or texting/IMing?
Texting/messaging for sure. Or emailing. Anything where I can write instead of talk is good.

7. What is your favourite TV show?
This is a tough one. Of shows that are currently on the air, I'd have to say How I Met Your Mother. All-time? Either Friends or Sports Night.

8. How old were you when you moved away from your parent(s)?
Starting at eighteen I was in and out of dorms or various college apartments. I didn't officially change my "permanent residence" until I graduated at twenty-three.

9. What is your pen of choice?
Pen? I prefer a keyboard myself. But I do actually love a couple of oversized pens I have, not for their ink or the way they write or anything, they're just the only ones I have a hope of finding in my purse.

10. Your best childhood memory?
I actually don't have many of these . . . childhood memories in general, I mean. Not a ton sticks with me from my early years, for some reason, and most of what does is just kind of random stuff. The only thing that really comes to mind that could apply are the few times we went camping. Not the camping itself, specifically, but just that I felt more independent there at the campground than I ever did at home. I can picture walking down to the little convenience store at the campground and buying snacks or silly little souvenirs for myself, just because I could. I'm sure this isn't my best childhood memory, but it's all that's coming to mind just now.

11. What would be your dream profession if your not already working it?
My dream profession would be working in academia. I would love to just stay in school for the rest of my life, and being a researcher/professor-type person is probably the closest thing to it. Specifically I'd want to study musicology, but to be honest I'd probably be more happy in any field of research than in any "normal" job.

I'm also supposed to come up with eleven questions of my own, and tag eleven people, but I don't really feel like doing that. I know, I'm a spoilsport. Actually, I just don't really know eleven other bloggers and really can't think of even one original question. But, I will say that anyone who feels so inclined can comment with their answer to any (or all) of the above questions.

  1. I totally get the staying in academia forever thing, because I feel like I don't fit really well with the normal working world. But, right now, I'm also a little bit sick with university so..I dunno what to do.

I really dislike talking on the phone, writing is just so much more comfy :)

Yay for HIMYM and Friends. OMG, I watches Friends so many times...Sports Night was good but it's not my fave Sorkin. But you already know that.

    1. Unfortunately it's the only series of his I've seen, and Netflix doesn't have the others. Though my library might (at least West Wing), hmmm...
